The FSA not harmed by resignation

2/10/09

In relation to a letter from the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Iceland to the Prime Minister, February 8, 2009, the Ministry of Business wants to clarify the following:

The Deputy-Director of the Financial Supervisory Authority has been the Acting Director General since the former Director General resigned. Thus, the FSA has by no means been left ungoverned nor has the resignation been harmful to the institution.

In addition, the Minister of Business Affairs appointed a new Board of Directors to the FSA on February 5. As a result, the FSA has been able to operate without any delays, ensuring continuity in its administration.
